Dawn Binkowski, Registered Psychotherapist
Becoming a psychotherapist was a decision I made later in life. I spent many years as a court reporter in the civil litigation field listening to people in stressful situations. I realized I wanted to do more than just take down the evidence. I went back to school and completed the 4 Year Training Program at the Gestalt Institute of Toronto. This built upon my undergraduate studies at U of T in Psychology and Women's Studies. I started my private practice in June of 2005.
I developed and ran “Expecting the Unexpected”, a workshop for first time pregnant parents and “The Functional Family Series,” a four part parenting workshop while working as a psychotherapist and parent counsellor at The Informed Parent, a pregnancy and parenting centre in Toronto. I co-led “The Trouble With Anger”, “Anticipa…ation”, an anxiety workshop, and “Art Therapy and Dreamwork” with senior faculty at The Gestalt Institute of Toronto. I have also appeared on “Doctor in the House” and “Save Us From Our House” as a parent counsellor and psychotherapist.
